What is that stuff fluoride???

1. Why do some people disapprove of adding fluoride to drinking water?

Too much flouride may cause brown stains on your teeth. Also, Flouride is considered, by many people, a poison. Some of the possible side effects include early agign, osteoperosis, hip fractures,cancer, and some speculate that it causes autism and ADD.

2. What would your position be on adding fluoride to drinking water and why?

I would allow flouride to be added to my drinking water, but only a limited amount. This is because too much flouride in water may harm your health and lead to long term side effects.

3. What technological advances in toothpaste had to be made before fluoride could be widely used in toothpaste and mouthwashes?

The correct combination of flouride and abrasive chemicals to produce a viable formulation fro a product. This required the development of advanced flouride compounds such as MFP(sodium monofluorophosphate), sodium flouride, and stannous flouride.

4. What side effects of using fluoride in drinking water are of most concern to you? Why?

Osteoperosis is a major illness in older people and may lead to arthritis, hip fractures, and other orthopedic issues. Some speculate that excess fluoride in drinking water has lead to increase incedences of cancer and autism. Most americans can receive an adequate amount of fluoridation through toothpaste, so fluoridation in drinking water seems to be no longer necessary.
